ANDREY BOREYKO   Conductor                                               BIOGRAPHY


Andrey Boreyko is Music Director of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and Principal Guest Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Euskadi San Sebastian/Spain. As well, he has taken over the position as chief conductor of Orchestre National de Belgique  as from 1 September 2012.

He was born in St. Petersburg and received his musical education at his home town’s conservatory where he graduated in conducting and composition with Elisaveta Kudriavzeva and Alexander Dmitriev. He was First Guest Conductor of the Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart of the SWR (2004-2012), chief conductor of the Berner Symphonieorchester, the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra,the Jenaer Philharmonie, which appointed him Honorary Conductor, the Hamburger Symphoniker and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra as well as Principal Guest Conductor  of the Vancouver Symphony.

Andrey Boreyko gave concerts with nearly all renowned orchestras worldwide. He conducted with great success the leading European and American orchestras as Berliner Philharmoniker, Münchner Philharmoniker, Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Filharmonia Narodowa Warsaw, Russian National Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Filharmonica della Scala, Wiener Symphoniker, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, London Symphony Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra as well as Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Numerous CDs as well as TV and radio recordings demonstrate Andrey Boreyko's artistic versatility. Arvo Pärt's Lamentate as well as Valentin Silvestrov’s Symphony No. 6 belong to Andrey Boreyko's CD recordings in 2005/2006, performed with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (SWR) and released by ECM records Munich.

In 2006, Hänssler CLASSIC released as live recording – again with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (SWR) – a CD with Dmitry Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 4 and the world premiere of his original version of the Suite op. 29 a from the Opera Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk followed by the In 2009 Andrey Boreyko recorded with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra Tchaikovsky’s Symphony Manfred op. 58 (2009 b-sharp). A live performance of Robert Schumann’s Manfred from 2010 was released as a DVD by arthaus in August 2011.

In 2011 YARLUNG RECORDS published a CD with Andrey Boreyko conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonics and Martin Chalifour performing the violin concerto Chain 2 by Witold Lutosławski.

In the coming seasons Andrey Boreyko will again conduct the orchestras in New York, Philadelphia, Saint Louis, Los Angeles, Seattle, Rotterdam, London, Turin, Parma and gives his debut with the Orchestre de Paris.
